The Green Bay Area Public School District is currently accepting applications for a Supervisor of Special Education vacancy. Working collaboratively with other leaders, under the direction of the Associate Director of Special Education, the Supervisor of Special Education is responsible for assisting the Director and Associate Director of Special Education to ensure that all schools and service providers are in compliance with the statutory requirements of IDEA, State standards and District policies governing the operation of special education programs, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) procedural compliance and service delivery.
Qualifications Required:
Education: Master's Degree and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Director of Special Education and Pupil Services (80) license
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of successful special education experiences
Qualifications Desired:
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of successful educational experiences/positions in a classroom or school (i.e., teaching, social work, guidance, program support); Knowledge of The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Procedure Compliance Self Assessment (PCSA)
Supervises: Special Education Lead Teachers in collaboration with Building Principal; Program Support Teachers

Provides direction, oversight and professional development for the district Program Support Teachers (PSTs) and Lead Teachers.
Keeps abreast of changes in special education laws, mandates and compliance matters, and ensures that changes are integrated into district policies and processes.
Establishes and maintains a system of reviewing IEPs and other essential special education documents to determine levels of compliance with federal, state and district policies and procedures.
Establishes clear, meaningful performance expectations for all assigned personnel, and completes evaluations of performance of all assigned instructional personnel.
Assists in determining the staffing needs of programs relating to assigned areas.
Participates in the recruiting, screening, and interview process for special education vacancies.
Assists teachers in implementing best practices in IEP development and implementation for academic improvement and compliance with state and federal law.
Assists in the completion of all required paperwork related to students transferring into or within the District.
Serves as Local Education Agency (LEA) representative in IEP meetings, when necessary.
Prepares and conducts training sessions for staff regarding writing and implementing effective IEPs and reporting requirements which are monitored for compliance.
Compiles data from assessments, alternative assessments, and daily work for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with District policies and procedures, monitoring program components and assisting with school improvement.
Provides leadership for Department of Public Instruction (DPI) procedural compliance self-assessment and other compliance monitoring activities.
Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
