The Neenah Joint School District is seeking candidates for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Supervisor of Operations. This position oversees operations at Neenah Middle School and three elementary schools: Lakeview, Coolidge, and Tullar.
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Maintenance,this position oversees all custodial services at assigned sites. The Supervisor maintains a flexible schedule to ensure consistent, hands-on supervision of both daytime school operations and evening shift staff.Key responsibilities include managing building operations and cleanliness, conducting facility inspections, evaluating staff performance, approving overtime, coordinating staff training, managing flextime, and assisting with budget development. This is a working supervisor role, meaning the individual will also actively support custodial, maintenance, operations, and grounds functions as needed.Additional duties may be assigned by the Director of Operations and Maintenance. Regular communication with the Director and building administrators is essential to the success of this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision and training:
- Assists with the supervision, hiring, mentoring, training, and evaluation of personnel involved in the custodial operations of the District.
- Conducts regular inspections of the buildings and grounds for safety and cleanliness using approved checklists, and implements changes if inspections do not meet standards.
- Organizes professional development and training for custodial staff in the areas of professional safety and the use of supplies and equipment.
- Manages and designates work responsibilities and work schedules for operations employees.
- Organizes and supervises cleaning and maintenance during summer recess, including hiring and training of seasonal staff.
Building operation activities:
- Manages building supplies and costs.
- Meets with vendors and investigates/recommends new cleaning methods, materials, and techniques for cleaning.
- Works with the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Operation and Maintenance to review and provide input into school event calendars, door scheduling, and purchase supplies.
- Works closely with the Administration on building security and safety issues.
Other duties:
- May work on a periodic basis in other positions in order to closely evaluate operations staff, methods, equipment, and general building conditions.
- Assists with monitoring energy conservation programs for the District.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operation and Maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the purpose of school building services.
- Ability to work well with others, organize and coordinate employee schedules effectively, write reports, and to plan and address building projects wisely and economically.
- Knowledge of Right-to-Know and chemical hygiene regulations.
- Broad knowledge of cleaning products, practices, and equipment.
- Possess physical skills and stamina to perform the responsibility of a custodial position, including, but not limited to lifting 50 pounds or greater, shoveling snow, moving furniture, working from scaffolding or ladders.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, administration, parents and community groups.
Additional Requirements:
- Graduation from high school is required.
- Minimum of 5 years' custodial experience is preferred.
- Successful experience in supervising custodial services and/or facility manager experience.
- Experience and ability to effectively interview, train, mentor, supervise, and evaluate personnel.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination and drug test.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, from 6:30 AM to 3:00, with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break.
- This is a 12 month position.
