    NOTICE OF POSITION

    POSITION:

    The Interim Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Ebony Prophet-Bullock, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

    Supervisor of Multilingual Education/ENL

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Candidates must hold a Master's degree and a New York State School District Administrator certification (SDA), New York State School District Leader certification (SDL), New York State School Administrator/Supervisor certification (SAS), New York State School Building Leader certification (SBL), or NYS Administrator Certification and one of the following New York State certifications:

    New York State in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Special Education, Elementary Education, or World Languages.

    Candidates must have a minimum of three years of certificated teaching in English Speakers of Other Languages, Special Education, Elementary Education, Elementary Education with a Bilingual Extension, or World Languages. Candidates must have had experience working with multilingual learners and knowledge of bilingual education and English as a New Language. Experience is preferred in managing programs aligned with CR Part 154, familiarity with the current APPR process, and developing foundational systems in which to streamline processes. Excellent planning, organization, problem-solving, decision-making, management, communications (oral and written), and human relations skills are required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Under the guidance of the Director(s) of Multilingual Education/ENL, the Supervisor's duties will include, but not be limited to:

    • Coordinates with the Director of Multilingual Education to plan, implement, and support ENL professional learning opportunities at both the district and building levels.
    • Facilitates the development of the district and schools' Language Allocation Policies.
    • Coordinates the Division's Schoology Group and the Division's webpage.
    • Develop and update resources and guides related to Cultural Awareness including: how to create a culturally inclusive school, multilingual ecology, and parent engagement.
    • Provides the district with information related to observances celebrated by our top language and cultural groups.
    • Collaborates with the Division of Staff Development to provide training to new teachers, aides and assistants and cross curricular opportunities related to language acquisition and meeting the needs of ELLs.
    • Attends professional development opportunities on behalf of the Division and turn-keys information to coaches and teachers.
    • Provides leadership for curriculum and instructional program planning, development, and implementation of all aspects of the Division of Multilingual Education.
    • Collaborates with other administrators as needed.
    • Leads delivery of in-service training for Bilingual/ENL teachers; keeps abreast of national and state trends in Bilingual/ENL Education to obtain information for essential program improvements; assists with program monitoring and assesses needs based on New York State regulations.
    • Coordinates co-curricular activities; serves as a liaison to outside agencies; and performs such other duties as necessary for the successful operation of the department.
    • Oversee the work of district-level ENL coaches.
    • Overseas, facilitates and plans for the curriculum committee to work.
    • Assists Director(s) with the planning, facilitation, and implementation of state testing, such as WIDA.
    • Supervise and evaluate staff; conduct APPRs of teachers and the Division of Multilingual Education staff.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Multilingual Education.
