Directs,
coordinates,
and
supervises
all
nurses
and
health
related
services.
Responsible
for
pupil
referrals,
evaluations
and
placements
in
classes,
programs
or
proper
agencies.
Responsible
for
planning,
managing
and
coordinating
services
and
in-service
programs
for
teachers
and
other
personnel
in
health,
physical
education
and
other
related
services.
Essential
Duties
and
Responsibilities:
Supervises
nursing
and
related
service
educational
programs
and
planning
for
improvement
in
the
various
offerings
in
health
related
services
Supervises
in-service
programs
for
teachers
and
other
personnel
in
health
and
other
related
areas
Assists
in
interviewing
and
selecting
nurses,
nursing
assistance
and/or
clerical
aides,
and
other
health
related
areas
Consults
with
parents
and/or
guardians
concerning
the
programs
designed
for
their
children
Establishes
and
maintains
good
public
relations
Assists
in
documenting
needs
and
preparing
state
and
federal
proposals,
programs,
and/or
guidelines
for
the
implementation
of
a
well-rounded
school
nursing
and/or
health
related
program
system
Assists
principals
and
other
administrators
in
the
utilization
of
school
nurses
and
nursing
assistants
assigned
to
their
schools,
not
only
with
respect
to
health
services,
but
also
their
role
to
the
school
generally
Assists
in
selecting
and
securing
equipment,
materials
which
can
be
effectively
utilized
to
meet
the
health
and
related
service
needs
of
the
children
in
the
district.
Monitors
evaluations,
reports,
and
recommendations
to
assure
appropriate
and
approved
methods;
meets
on
a
regular
basis
with
all
nurses
and
nursing
personnel
of
the
district
in
an
effort
to
upgrade
and
enhance
the
services
of
the
School
Health
Department
Provides
the
system
with
health
reports
and
information;
appraises
techniques
and
performance
of
nursing
personnel

the
appropriate
authority

evaluation

action
Assists
schools

implementation

control

communicable
diseases.
Assists
schools
in
providing
health
education
and
pertinent
information
relating
to
health
in
the
home,
school,
and
community
Assists
school
nurses
in
helping
students
and
their
families
to
achieve
optimum
well-being
by
stimulating
behavior
change
through
individual
and
group
counseling
Monitors
all
emergencies
and
sees
that
they
are
handled
promptly
and
efficiently

Essential
Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:
Education
and
Experience:
Must
hold
or
be
eligible
for
a
Class
A
Louisiana
Nurse
Certificate
with
some
administrative
experience
and
an
awareness
of
the
needs
of
all
students.
The
qualifications
should
also
include
experience
in
dealing
with
children
in
a
testing
situation
related
to
the
education
setting.
