    DESCRIPTION:
    Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Manufacturing Sciences Supervisor, where you'll guide technical operations in a GMP-regulated environment. You'll support a team of scientists and engineers while serving as the technical owner for customer programs in manufacturing. Working at the intersection of process development and production, you'll contribute to innovation and excellence in pharmaceutical technologies while ensuring compliance with quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to life-changing therapies while developing your leadership skills in an innovative organization.

    In this position, you'll oversee process execution, standardize methodologies, review critical documentation, and provide technical expertise for manufacturing operations. You'll collaborate across functions to optimize processes, implement improvements, and ensure efficient operations. Your expertise will be valuable in supporting team members, managing timelines, and maintaining productive partnerships with stakeholders to deliver exceptional results for our customers.

    Essential Functions: 

    • Lead by developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; managing performance and career development; building effective teams through hiring and training to apply diverse skills and perspectives; driving engagement and creating a climate where our staff are motivated to do their best.

    • Actively participate in team meetings and interact with operational, analytical and project management staff to meet customer objectives. Contribute to development of realistic work plans and lead technical meetings with customers.

    • Recommends and assists in implementing organizational and technical improvements designed to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and productivity of operations all conforming to applicable regulatory standards. 

    • Integrate a risk-based approach during project execution and design mitigation strategies in alignment with our customers. We lead problem solving for equipment and processes, including investigation of incidents on the manufacturing floor, and drive to the true root cause. Design experiments and formulate statistics to support findings.

    • Draft and review quality batch production records, reports, and protocols to support client and project milestones. Ensure the collection and interpretation of data and conduct scientific review to substantiate conclusions and recommendations.

    • Role model compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and other regulatory requirements related to pharmaceutical development.

    • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical processes, equipment, instrumentation, and procedures, including assisting in implementing organizational and technical improvements to enhance reliability, productivity and follow regulatory standards.


    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in GMP-regulated Pharmaceutical/Biologics industry.

    • 3 Years leadership experience preferred

    • Preferred Fields of Study: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Science or related science or engineering field

    • Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for solids, liquids, and semi-solid dosage forms.

    • Strong understanding of cGMP requirements and US/EU regulatory standards

    • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and complex projects

    • Experience with process validation, technology transfer, and scale-up activities

    • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation (batch records, validation protocols, technical reports)

    • Strong problem-solving skills for deviations and implementation of corrective actions

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant manufacturing systems

    • Ability to work in manufacturing areas wearing appropriate PPE

    • Ability to support manufacturing operations as needed

    • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or PPI)

    • Knowledge of risk assessment and root cause analysis techniques

    • Experience in developing and supporting technical staff
