    In this role, you'll provide day-to-day leadership and support to our medical coding team, helping ensure quality, productivity, accuracy, and compliance. As a trusted leader within Deaconess, you'll help cultivate a collaborative environment built on professionalism, accountability, respect, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.

    What Youll Do:

    • Provide first-line supervision, guidance, and support to medical coding staff.
    • Monitor coding quality, productivity, and performance to ensure department standards are met.
    • Perform coding quality verification and help identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Ensure coding practices comply with applicable State and Federal regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize reimbursement while maintaining coding accuracy and compliance.
    • Provide training and ongoing education to new and existing coding staff.
    • Assist with problem-solving and resolution of coding-related questions and concerns.
    • Assist with reporting from coding and abstracting applications.
    • Support a positive, collaborative team environment focused on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

    Education & Experience:

    • Completion of High School or GED is required.
    • A coding credential is required, such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Other AAPC or AHIMA credentials may be considered.
    • Five years of previous medical coding experience is required.
    • Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
    • Previous leadership, supervisory, or training experience is preferred.
