Job Duties

The Accounting Clerk maintains the Court's finances according to established policies and procedures and complies with the Auditor of Public Accounts during yearly audits. The Accounting Clerk is assigned operational responsibilities in a high-volume office with frequent deadlines to include review and preparation of daily settlement reports and reconciliation of monthly bank statements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the timely processing of DC40's (Electronic Voucher Payment System-EVPS); assists the Clerk with annual Escheatment/Unclaimed Property procedures as well as preparation of financial and budget reports or other statistical analyses as required. Responsible for the submission of invoices for payment from the Court's local budget to maintain leases for equipment, subscriptions, etc. while complying with legal and budgetary requirements. Alpha/Numeric filing; by date and judge filing; accuracy is critical. Must possess the ability to lift and bend in order to retrieve files. May not be all-inclusive or totally comprehensive, listed as a general explanation only. Candidate must be willing to assume responsibilities other than those primarily assigned.

Most competitive applicants will have excellent clerical and typing skills as well as some experience with general accounting and financial management procedures within a government agency. Knowledge of judicial or regulatory requirements that affect court operations is desirable. Must have the ability to respond and effectively interact with the public and external organizations or agencies with tact, courtesy, and patience. Good verbal and written communication skills are a must. Must be able to follow and explain procedures. Possess the ability to manage competing priorities. Discretion and integrity are a must in working with highly sensitive and confidential matters. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court experience preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is primarily performed in an office and courtroom setting. Duties require the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and operate standard office equipment. The employee may be required to lift or carry items weighing up to approximately 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
