This role is responsible for coordinating mechanical work in the field, leading crews and trade partners, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to VMG's quality standards.The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader with a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP coordination who can successfully manage large-scale projects involving multiple trades from startup through closeout.What You'll DoLead Field OperationsOversee day-to-day mechanical construction activities from project startup through completionLead and coordinate Foremen, field crews, subcontractors, and trade partnersPlan manpower, equipment, materials, and resources to meet project schedules and production goalsCoordinate HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical scopes with surrounding tradesMonitor field productivity and ensure project milestones are achievedIdentify field challenges early and work with project teams to develop effective solutionsMaintain a strong field presence and provide clear direction to project teamsCoordinate MEP ConstructionLead field coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building systemsReview drawings, specifications, submittals, coordination drawings, and other project documentationParticipate in constructability reviews and identify potential installation conflicts before they impact the fieldCoordinate sequencing with general contractors, subcontractors, and other tradesWork closely with BIM/VDC teams to resolve coordination and constructability issuesEnsure mechanical installations align with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirementsDrive Safety & QualityPromote and enforce VMG, OSHA, and project-specific safety requirementsConduct routine jobsite inspections and proactively address unsafe conditionsEnsure field teams follow established safety procedures and properly utilize PPEMonitor installation quality and ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and VMG standardsCoordinate inspections, testing, startup, and commissioning activitiesMaintain accountability for workmanship, quality, and jobsite organizationManage Project PerformanceDevelop and maintain short-term field schedules, look-ahead schedules, and installation sequencingMonitor manpower, labor productivity, materials, equipment, and field progressCoordinate material and equipment deliveries to support project schedulesTrack project milestones and communicate potential delays or challenges to Project ManagementAssist with identifying scope changes, field conditions, and potential cost impactsParticipate in project meetings and provide accurate updates regarding field progress and upcoming activitiesSupport overall requirements are completedSupport a successful transition from construction through final project turnoverWhat You Bring5+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience with field leadership or supervisory responsibilityStrong experience with commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and MEP systemsPrevious experience as a Mechanical Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, General Superintendent, Foreman, or similar field leadership positionExperience managing large-scale commercial construction projects and multiple tradesStrong understanding of construction sequencing, manpower planning, scheduling, and field productivityAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, coordination drawings, and construction documentsExperience coordinating with General Contractors, Project Managers, subcontractors, and other tradesStrong understanding of construction safety, quality control, and applicable codesExcellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environmentFamiliarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar construction technologyValid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations as requiredPreferred ExperienceExperience overseeing large-scale commercial mechanical or MEP projectsExperience with projects ranging from $2M to $50M+Strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, equipment installation, and mechanical systemsExperience with BIM/VDC coordination and clash-resolution processesExperience with project startup, testing, commissioning, and closeoutOSHA 30 certificationPrevious experience working for a commercial mechanical contractorBachelor's degree in Construction
