ColonialWebb is looking to hire a Superintendent for our Special Projects team. The primary responsibility of the Superintendent is to oversee change-outs, retrofits, and installations for complex projects. This responsibility includes supervising day to day work activities of other mechanics, apprentices, and helpers. The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all services are performed in accordance with applicable contractual agreements and company budget objectives.

A day in the life:
Maintain strict adherence to all company safety rules, regulations, procedures and practices
Follow specific directions from supervision; assign workers to specific duties
Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for successful project completion
Inspect work in process and completed work to ensure conformance to specifications
Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of installation
Teach, coach and guide teammates; provide technical and management assistance as needed during day-to-day work activities
Perform trade-specific duties as needed with the ability to direct work of all other trades
Ensure teammates are participating in predictive reporting; audit 5 x 5s and pre-task plans for compliance; hold teammates accountable for these actions
Monitor and control the implementation of safety policies; attend safety and accident review meetings in an effort to continuously enhance current safety policies and employee practices; perform safety assessments; conduct weekly
Safety Toolbox Talks Monitor and control tools to ensure efficient and effective use of resources and provide oversight of inventory activities
Schedule material and equipment deliveries to maintain project schedule
Attend meetings (i.e., cost to complete, barrel, work status, cost overruns, potential change orders, manpower allocations, permits and inspections, equipment orders)
Monitor all job costs on a consistent basis to ensure that field performance meets or exceeds budget requirements
Review weekly report of costs incurred; identify possible cost-saving opportunities
Conduct performance reviews with field employees; initiate requests for pay increases
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
You should have:
Possess at least 7 years’ industry experience, including supervisory experience
Possess extensive experience in handling personnel issues
Possess excellent mechanical, administrative and analytical skills
Possess extensive knowledge of International Codes and general HVAC and plumbing systems
Possess OSHA 30-hour certification and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
Ability to handle day-to-day tasks relating to work assignments and asset management
Ability to read and understand project related documents in the English language
Ability to use current technology (i.e., computer, tablet, Microsoft Teams, Procore, BIM)
Demonstrate foresight and problem-solving skills to make sound business decisions
Demonstrate a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment
Ability to work independently without direct supervision
Ability to coordinate and perform multiple activities in a timely manner
Ability to maintain a sense of urgency and remain calm when handling emergencies
Ability to deal diplomatically and effectively with internal and external customers
Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy, make strategic decisions based on measurable criteria and comprehend technical data
