Superintendent - Retail/Restaurant Construction

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead retail and restaurant projects, including tenant improvements (TI) and ground-up builds. The Superintendent will oversee daily field operations, coordinate trades, enforce safety and quality standards, and drive projects to on-time, on-budget completion while maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring code compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site construction activities for retail and restaurant projects, including TI and ground-up builds, from mobilization through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries to meet milestones and avoid delays.
  • Supervise and mentor field crews; assign tasks, monitor productivity, and enforce company safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and owners to resolve technical issues, RFIs, and design clarifications promptly.
  • Manage daily site logistics, including staging, access, permitting, inspections, and site housekeeping.
  • Monitor project costs and report variances; support subcontractor invoice review and change order documentation.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections and punch-list activities to ensure work meets contract documents and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, local regulations, and company safety policies (OSHA).
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports, daily logs, and closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate project closeout, including final inspections, warranties, as-built documentation, and client handover.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience as a Superintendent on retail and restaurant construction projects; demonstrated experience with tenant improvements (TI) and ground-up construction.
  • Proven track record overseeing multiple trades and managing complex jobsite logistics on fast-paced, high-visibility projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, means and methods, and ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP drawings.
  • Experience with scheduling tools and construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, PlanGrid) and proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to build relationships with clients, contractors, and inspectors.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, permitting processes, ADA requirements, and OSHA safety standards (OSHA 10/30 preferred).
  • Experience managing budgets, change orders, and cost-control practices.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel between job sites as required.
  • Construction superintendent certification, technical degree, or related trade background preferred but not required.
