Job Details

Superintendent — MEP and Critical Infrastructure

We are seeking a Superintendent to lead field operations on complex commercial and institutional construction projects. Projects include hospitals, data centers, schools, federal facilities, laboratories, central utility plants, and advanced manufacturing facilities.

This role is a strong fit for someone with a background in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or pipefitting who knows how to coordinate trades, plan ahead, and keep work moving safely. Experienced superintendents and senior trade leaders ready to take on broader jobsite responsibility are encouraged to apply.

You will oversee field execution from mobilization through commissioning and final turnover, working closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, owners, and facility teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field operations, including safety, scheduling, logistics, quality, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules, making sure manpower, materials, equipment, and information are available before work begins.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, controls, fire protection, and specialty-system installation.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, BIM models, and equipment requirements to identify conflicts and constructability issues early.
  • Plan and coordinate shutdowns, outages, live-system tie-ins, energization, equipment startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Manage phased construction in occupied, secure, or continuously operating facilities while minimizing disruption.
  • Lead coordination meetings and hold subcontractors accountable for schedule, manpower, quality, and completion commitments.
  • Coordinate inspections and verify installation requirements before work is concealed or systems are placed into service.
  • Communicate field issues, schedule risks, and proposed solutions to project leadership.
  • Maintain daily reports, progress photos, manpower records, inspection logs, and other field documentation.
  • Oversee punch lists, systems turnover, owner training, closeout documentation, and final acceptance.
  • Mentor foremen, assistant superintendents, and field engineers.

Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of relevant commercial or institutional construction experience.
  • Previous leadership experience as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, general foreman, trade supervisor, or comparable field leader.
  • Strong expertise in at least one MEP discipline and working knowledge of related building systems.
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades and managing schedules, safety, inspections, and quality.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, schedules, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong planning and communication skills, with the ability to address field problems and keep teams accountable.
  • Comfort using digital drawings, field reporting tools, and construction management software.
  • OSHA 30 certification or the ability to obtain it shortly after hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet project-specific security, background-check, and facility-access requirements.
  • Ability to travel or work project-specific schedules as needed.

Preferred Experience

  • Hospitals, data centers, federal facilities, active school campuses, laboratories, or central utility plants.
  • Critical shutdowns, utility outages, phased renovations, temporary systems, and live-system tie-ins.
  • Electrical distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and redundant power systems.
  • HVAC, hydronic piping, process piping, plumbing, medical gas, controls, and building automation.
  • Commissioning, testing and balancing, systems startup, and owner turnover.
  • BIM/VDC coordination and tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project.
  • For senior-level consideration, 10 or more years of construction experience with at least five years in superintendent or senior field leadership roles.
