Superintendent
D.R. Horton is seeking an experienced and driven Superintendent to lead the construction of multiple homes from permitting through closing while delivering an outstanding customer experience. This role is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys leading teams, managing projects, and takes pride in building quality homes that exceed customer expectations.
As a Superintendent, you''ll oversee all aspects of the job site, coordinating trade partners, maintaining quality and safety standards, managing schedules and budgets, and ensuring homes are delivered on time and to the highest level of workmanship.
What You''ll Do
- Lead and manage the construction of multiple homes from permit through final closing
- Drive project schedules to ensure homes are completed on time, within budget, and to company quality standards
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors throughout each phase of construction
- Evaluate trade partner performance, ensuring work meets company standards, building codes, and project requirements
- Perform regular site inspections to verify quality workmanship, progress, and compliance with plans and specifications
- Address and resolve construction issues promptly, including stopping work when standards, safety requirements, or code compliance are not met
- Review completed work and materials to ensure expectations are met prior to approving subcontractor payments
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience by maintaining clear communication and providing updates throughout the construction process
- Conduct homeowner orientations, walkthroughs, and inspections to ensure a smooth transition to homeownership
- Maintain clean, organized, and visually appealing communities and jobsites
- Manage post-closing warranty activities, including evaluating homeowner requests, coordinating repairs, and ensuring quality resolutions
- Follow up with homeowners to confirm concerns are addressed professionally and in a timely manner
- Stay current on applicable building codes, regulations, and industry best practices
- Partner closely with Sales, Warranty, and Operations teams to proactively resolve issues and deliver a high-quality product
- Conduct all business with professionalism, integrity, and a customer-first mindset
- Work additional hours as needed to support business objectives and project timelines

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 to 4 years of residential construction, project management, or related experience
- Ability to effectively manage and complete the "13 Milestones of Construction" within company systems and processes
- Reliable transportation capable of carrying job-related supplies, a valid driver''s license, and willingness to travel between assigned communities as needed
- Strong understanding of residential construction practices and the ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, scopes of work, and construction documents
- Working knowledge of municipal permitting processes, building regulations, and applicable construction codes
- Ability to build positive relationships with homeowners, trade partners, team members, and all levels of management
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence
- Ability to effectively manage budgets, resources, and project costs
- Comfortable using construction management applications on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to follow written, verbal, and electronic instructions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and email
- OSHA 30 certification or ability to obtain
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This position includes both office and active jobsite responsibilities. Candidates should be comfortable:
- Walking construction sites and standing for extended periods
- Navigating stairs, uneven terrain, and various stages of construction
- Bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and performing other physical activities associated with site management
- Lifting and/or moving materials up to 50 pounds
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Being exposed to active construction environments that may include moving equipment, elevated work areas, electrical hazards, and loud noise levels
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience succeeding in a fast-paced, high-volume construction environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines effectively
