    Superintendent – Heavy Civil with Utilities Experience Columbia, SC

    The superintendent directs all field personnel on a given project, takes responsibility for all safety and production goals for the project.

    THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY

    To guide all field activities while on projects while adhering to all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations while meeting all safety, quality, and schedule goals.

    ·Build a team atmosphere to allow foreman and operators to thrive and succeed

    ·Manage several foreman / lead men on separate projects and provide them with the tools, equipment, and technical support they need.

    ·Manage several projects in varying locations (currently most work is in central SC)

    oAttend client meetings

    oAttend pre-con meetings

    oWork with Project Engineer to ensure materials are submitted, approved, and delivered on time

    oWork with Project Engineer to ensure layout is correct and performed ahead of time

    oSchedule equipment delivery

    oSchedule meetings with engineers and owners

    oMaintain all erosion control inspections and ensure compliance

    oCommunicate scope, details, and schedule with the foremen

    oRandom onsite inspections

    oManagement of production requirements as set forth in the project schedules

    oAssist in training new hires and existing personnel

    oAssist in recruiting and screening new employees

    oAssist in safety meetings

    o Communicate project billing information to the office for timely invoicing

    oCommunicate project time sheets to the office for payroll

    oMaintain a project file of fuel sheets, load count sheets, hourly work, change order requests, and all applicable materials lists

    oSchedule and order necessary construction materials

    ·Maintain MSHA compliance on projects

    oCheck the onsite MSHA binder for compliance

    oEnsure foremen / lead men have all MSHA paperwork organized and up to date

    oRandom inspections of vehicles, equipment, and projects

    oAttend all required MSHA training

    oMaintain all expense reports, credit card receipts, coded correctly and turned in weekly

    oMaintain a professional appearance at all times

    oMaintain company vehicle

    ·Sub Activities

    oOperate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures

    oEnsure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use

    oParticipate in routine maintenance when needed

    oPractice workplace safety

    oMaintain inventory

    oComplete daily fuel, load count, and hour logs

    oGeneral daily preventative equipment maintenance

    oMaintain current tool inventory in maintenance trailer / truck

    oMaintain fuel tank level and inventory, communicate to management for deliveries

    oInstall and maintain silt fence

    oMaintain all erosion control devices and report deficiencies

    oGuide and lead the crew in daily activities

    oPerform minor emergency repairs on equipment as needed

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    ·Equipment operation and maintenance

    ·Equipment safety

    ·MSHA and OSHA regulations

    ·Site specific hazards and conditions

    ·General site preparation techniques and procedures

    ·Knowledge of Utility installations for water, sanitary, storm sewer and related piping, trenching needed.

    ·Knowledge of and ability to operate front end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, excavators, scrapers, and other heavy equipment.

    ·Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage

    ·Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques

    ·Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures

    ·Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures

    ·Ability to communicate effectively in English
