SuperVet ® Job Description - Chief Veterinary Resources Officer- North American Operations

We are looking to align with a Senior veterinary individual to harmonize multiple laboratory animal medicine sites across the United States. Someone to stand up for what is right (Animal welfare), Protect the innocent (onboard new Veterinary Staff), Promote Justice for All (Harmonization of practices, policies, procedures, and protocols). A SuperVet ®, The Attending Veterinarian of all the Attending Veterinarians and a Champion of Animal Welfare 

This role would be the Attending Veterinarian of all the Attending Veterinarians in the organization at multiple sites and would act as the Chief Veterinary Resources Officer for North American Operations including Research Services and Research Models. 

Each of our research facilities across the organization has unique characteristics, challenges, and opportunities. Through the growth and acquisition strategy we are looking to harmonize areas of veterinary care, animal welfare, and to promote a culture of professional development and growth. The Chief Veterinary Resources Officer would bring into concert our sites across North America. 

Areas for Harmonization: 

• Medical records, Veterinary Service Records, and information capture.  
• Humane Endpoints Policy and qualifications 
• Levels of Preventative Medicine between the sites.
• Identification of primary problems for each species (GI issues, Trauma, etc)
• IACUC preparation, recertification, adherence 
• Specific Protocols and SOPs including GLP and non-GLP
• Disaster preparedness plans, including sharing of staff
• Veterinary Benefits, Continuing Education, and Skill Development 
• Animal handling and training protocols
• Staffing ratios for Veterinarians: Animals
• Staffing ratios for Veterinary Technicians: Animals
• Development and Implementation of onboarding programs for Veterinary Technicians
• Development and Implementation of onboarding programs for new veterinarians ( New Veterinary School graduates, Lab Animal Residents, Lab Animal Veterinarianis, DACLAM veterinarians) 
• Preventative Care, Diagnostics and Treatment
• Facility/ provider for laboratory samples
• Vaccine Protocols, Physical Exam Protocols, Treatment Protocols, Morbidity Protocols, Necropsy Protocols 
• Ensure preventative medicine is SOP-driven and harmonizes the SOPs. 
• Identify and Develop an Animal Welfare Officer for each site. 

• Be able to identify secondary talents across the Veterinary teams and promote cross-utilization of internal subject matter experts to grow, develop and train the various teams. 
• Foster continuing education benefits of organizing intrasite and intersite meetings and collaborations
• Work closely with the Quality Assurance team 
• Harmonize the daily activities and goals with defined CAPAs (Corrective and Preventative Action Plan)
• Identify budgets for the veterinary teams at different sites
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the morbidity and mortality rates of each of the sites with the goal of continuous improvement and maintenance of high standards. 
• Maintain a high level of Animal Welfare when making business decisions. 
• Evaluation of the primary and secondary strengths of the Veterinary medicine and care team. 

This role would act in an advisory capacity and program development capacity to ensure the highest level of laboratory animal care and welfare across the organization now and as we continue to grow.

An Excellent written and verbal communicator who can equally relate to Veterinary Technical staff, Senior Board Members, Corporate Stakeholders, and External Clients 

Looking for a solid veterinary leader who has shown proficiency in building a team of high performers and/or maintaining a high-performing team as evidenced by morbidity and mortality data. 

Evidence of successfully balancing competing priorities 

A strong understanding of the preclinical drug development process

Education 

• DVM or US Equivalent (PAVE, NAVLE) 
• DACLAM 
• Ph.D. or MBA ( preferred not required) 

Ability to travel regularly and as needed to sites across North America.
