Overview Assistant General Manager (AGM)

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a key operational leader responsible for supporting the overall performance of two major business units (Beauty & Store Support Center) in the JCPenney Atlanta Logistics Center. The AGM partners closely with the General Manager to drive operational excellence, ensure safety, service, productivity, quality, and financial objectives are consistently achieved.

The ideal candidate is a people-focused leader who excels at developing teams, solving complex operational challenges, and driving continuous improvement within a fast-paced supply chain environment. This individual must be highly collaborative, data-driven, and committed to creating a culture of accountability, engagement, and operational excellence.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Develop & execute strategies to improve efficiency by optimizing performance and expenses within the Supply Chain
  • Communicate with various support departments to offer suggestions and implement solutions
  • Rely on both accurate data and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Develop and assist with presenting analytics, key trends and solution proposals to the General Manager
  • Direct the team on activities and processes that enable key strategies of customer first service and Catalyst Brand core values
  • Lead collaboration & communication with the operations leadership team
  • Coordinates with Support departments within Supply Chain to ensure uniformity and adhere to Company Policy and Procedures
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

 

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:

 

  • College degree preferred, in Business, Supply Chain or Logistics desired, or equivalent related experience
  • 10+ years in Logistics/Distribution Operations
  • Proven experience leading and developing leaders at all experience levels
  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills for proactive planning and driving team performance
  • Ability to inspire teams by modeling customer-centric behavior, setting clear standards for service excellence, and creating a culture where customer needs drive decision-making
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, functions, and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
