Hours can vary, must be able to work in LaSalle, Gilcrest and Platteville. REPORTS TO: Kitchen Team Lead FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt WORK YEAR: 162 days POSITION SUMMARY:Works as a team member to complete all duties and tasks, may be assigned to prepare, serve, clean, and track meal service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Meet all program requirements and responsibilities defined by Weld Re1 School District, the county health department, CDE, USDA, and District Food Service Offices.2.Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.3.Assist with all aspects of preparation and portioning for a preplanned menu to ensure the cafeteria is ready to open on time...4.Participates in all aspects of cleaning and sanitizing service ware and work areas.5.Assist in preparing food according to the planned menu and production quantities using tested USDA standardized recipes or locally modified and approved recipes.6.Operate all equipment safely and effectively. 7.Report hazards to the supervisor.8.Cross-trains as a manager and performs the duties of a manager in the absence of the same.9.Attend Colorado Department of Education Child Nutrition Workshop within the first year of employment and subsequently as requested by the Food Service Director.10.Attends any sanitation workshops or other trainings as requested and deemed necessary by the Food Service Director.11.Maintain required standards of operation, safety, and cleanliness in the kitchen.12.Assists in developing and maintaining both internal and external positive customer service standards at all times.13.Performs such other duties and responsibilities as the Board of Education, Administration, Kitchen Manager, and/ or Director of Food Service deems appropriate and/or necessary. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:1.Knowledge of kitchen equipment.2.Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of the above-listed responsibilities.3.Competency in English language communication skills, both oral and written.4.Demonstrate functional math and reading skills essential to food preparation and record keeping.5.Ability to work as a team member in completing responsibilities listed above.6.Ability to perform repetitive tasks, maintain a positive attitude, and provide quality performance.7.Flexibility and necessary skills for meeting multiple demands on time.8.Ability to relate well to people and create rapport with students and co-workers.9.Ability to identify emergencies and report to appropriate personnel.10.Demonstrate initiative.11.Ability to handle money efficiently and cashier if assigned.12.Demonstrate keyboard/computer literacy.13.Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written directions.14.Ability to stand for long periods.15.Capable of frequent pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and reaching. EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:1.A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.2.Successful previous experience in food preparation is preferred.3.Successful completion of health and pre-employment physical examinations.4.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work primarily in a school's industrial-type kitchen with various types of equipment, food products, and a number of diversified adult, student, and patron populations. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Work hours are to be recommended by the district administration. The number of work hours and salary will be established by the Board of Education, with the benefits and retirement that apply to classified personnel according to Board of Education policy.
