Position Overview A Substitute Teacher is responsible fortemporarily taking over classroom responsibilities in the absence of theregular classroom teacher. The substitute ensures a productive learningenvironment by following the lesson plans provided and maintaining classroomdiscipline. The role involves assisting students in understanding the coursematerial and supporting their academic and behavioral needs. Key Responsibilities Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure continuity of instruction. Maintain a positive supportive and orderly classroom environment. Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies and procedures. Supervise students during class recess lunch and other activities. Provide feedback to the regular teacher on students progress and any incidents that occurred during the day. Assist students with their academic work as needed providing support for individual learning styles and needs. Follow the schools policies procedures and guidelines including health and safety protocols. Maintain student confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Communicate effectively with students staff and administration. Perform other related duties as assigned by the school. Qualifications High school diplomaGED required. Valid substitute certification from NM Public Education Department must be obtained in order to start. Previous experience working with children or in a classroom setting preferred. Strong communication organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage classroom behavior and work effectively with diverse student populations. Flexibility and adaptability to work with different grade levels subjects and classroom settings. Ability to remain calm and handle unexpected situations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand sit and move around the classroom. Ability to lift and carry items such as books or teaching materials. Occasional need to assist students with physical tasks or mobility. Work Environment Work is performed in a school setting including classrooms hallways and common areas. Interactions with students staff and administrators are key components of the position.
