Contract Duration: August 10, 2026 – May 31, 2027
Excelraise, LLC is recruiting Substitute Teachers for the Tennessee School for the Blind in Nashville, Tennessee. There are three separate requisitions with different qualification requirements, offering a total of four openings.
Available Positions:
Position 1 – Substitute Teacher | Req. #65943
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; 60 credit hours or less than a bachelor's degree.
- Two years of college or a bachelor's degree preferred
Position 2 – Substitute Teacher | Req. #65942
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher (non-certified).
Position 3 – Substitute Teacher | Req. #65938Requirement:
Valid Tennessee teaching license required. - Candidates will be considered for the requisition that best matches their education, credentials, and qualifications. Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow established teacher lesson plans and perform classroom teacher or educational assistant duties as assigned.
- Supervise students at all times and maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
- Maintain regular classroom routines and support daily educational activities.
- Familiarize yourself with school emergency procedures and students' medical needs.
- Assist with lunchroom, bus, hallway, and other school duties as assigned.
- Report significant behavioral or disciplinary issues to the appropriate school administrator.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information and classroom observations.
- Report to the educational office upon arrival and after dismissal.
- Follow all school policies, administrative instructions, and student safety procedures.
Qualifications
General Qualifications
Ability to follow lesson plans, instructions, and school policies.
Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
Basic computer knowledge.
Strong judgment, flexibility, teamwork, and dependability.
Excellent attendance and punctuality.
Ability to maintain student safety and confidentiality.
Position-Specific Requirements
Req. #65943: High School Diploma or GED required; 60 credit hours or less than a bachelor's degree. Two years of college or a bachelor's degree preferred.
Req. #65942: Bachelor's degree or higher (non-certified).
Req. #65938: Valid Tennessee teaching license required.
Background Verification: Candidates must successfully complete the required background checks and fingerprinting. Verification may include Tennessee and federal criminal history checks, child abuse records, employment verification, and professional and personal reference checks. Fingerprinting requirements must be met for the applicable requisition. Disqualifying discrepancies or unresolved fingerprinting concerns may result in rejection.
