Weston Public Schools Substitute Teachers - Per Diem

Starting Date: Immediate

Compensation: $127+ per day

Position Overview:

Substitute teachers play an essential role in maintaining the continuity of instruction when the regular classroom teacher is absent. Whether serving on a daily or long-term basis, substitutes are responsible for supporting student learning and ensuring a positive, well-managed classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Continue all planned learning activities and maintain instructional momentum.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of student growth and development.
  • Possess knowledge of the subject matter and proficiency in core academic skills (reading, writing, and mathematics) or other assigned content areas.
  • Communicate effectively with students and foster a respectful, engaging classroom climate.
  • Uphold computer technology acceptable-use policies.
  • Adhere to all building procedures and schedules.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and uphold school policies in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding lesson progress and any relevant student or classroom information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Valid Connecticut teaching certificate preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of students.
  • Flexibility in work assignments and a willingness to contribute to the safe and effective operation of the school.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and support staff.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Preference given to candidates who are available at least one full day per week and can commit to full-day assignments.
