    Position Title: Elementary Special Education Teacher - Long Term Substitute

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must possess or be eligible for Connecticut State Department of Education certification for Special Education (165 or 065).
    • Degree from an accredited college or university

    Reports to: Building Principal and/or designee

    Compensation: In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

    Work Year: Position starts on August 24, 2026, and ends on or about March 1, 2026. In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the association and the Board of Education.

    Responsibilities: The Special Education Teacher has the following responsibilities as listed below and other duties and responsibilities as shall be assigned by the Building Principal and/or designee:

    • Provides comprehensive case management, planning and providing instruction directly to students requiring social, emotional and behavioral support.
    • Provides training, support, and guidance to a team of para educators; co-teaches; communicates and collaborates with teachers and families.
    • Implements IEP and leads PPT processes
    • Other responsibilities as defined by the building principal or designee.
