Duties/Responsibilities: - Develops a positive and productive relationship with all parents by communicating with parents in a positive manner on an ongoing basis.
- Develops a positive and productive relationship with the Classroom Teacher, Center Director and all other staff by communicating frequently and using positive feedback as much as possible.
- Acts as a positive role model for children, families, staff, and volunteers.
- Follows safety guidelines when lifting equipment and picking up children, upkeep, and age appropriateness of all equipment which children use.
- Cooperates and works as a team in the workplace by assisting others on a daily basis.
- Participates in workshops, in-service training and makes use of all professional growth opportunities.
- Reports to Person in Charge in absence of Center Director.
- Assists teachers with the implementation of the behavior management plan
- Reports all suspected child abuse to the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 and in accordance with agency policy.
- Arrives on time and works designated hours (unless otherwise specified by immediate supervisor).
- Flexibility with work schedule and location as needed based on program needs.
- Provide appropriate care for children including following appropriate diapering/toileting procedures, and maintaining a sanitized classroom, such as; hand washing, change of bedding, and sanitation of toys, equipment, and surfaces.
- Assist with recruitment of parents and staff.
General Indicators: - Submits time sheets accurately and on time to supervisor.
- Submits mileage accurately and on time to supervisor.
- Attends all staff and other meetings as assigned.

- Maintains confidentiality: records, client services, and staff.
- Adheres to Agency’s best practices related to time and leave.

- Maintains a safe, orderly and clean environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Preferred: - Willingness to obtain CDA in the appropriate age group.
- 6 months experience in an early education or child development center setting.
- Able to communicate in both Spanish and English.
Required: - A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a genuine interest and concern for young children.
- Must work at least 4 full shifts per month.
Physical Requirements: - Be able to lift 25 - 30 lbs.
- Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on the floor, see hear and speak with children to ensure children's health and safety.
Other Requirements: - At least 18 years old.
- Initial Health Exam required for all Head Start staff at the agency 's expense.
- Initial and annual TB screening are required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
- Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
- Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employee's expense.
