Substitute Classroom Teacher
Position Summary:
First Baptist School of Charleston is seeking dedicated and reliable Substitute Teachers who are committed to supporting our mission of providing a Christ-centered, academically excellent education. Substitute Teachers are responsible for delivering instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere that reflects Christian values.
Responsibilities: - Follow the lesson plans left by the regular teacher to facilitate learning
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Uphold classroom rules and procedures established by the regular teacher or administration
- Model and encourage behavior aligned with the school’s Christian values and mission
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and administration
- Report any student issues or incidents to the appropriate campus principal
- Perform additional duties as assigned, such as supervision during recess, lunch, or class transitions
Qualifications: - A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred
- Ability to follow directions, manage a classroom, and work independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to teach across grade levels (elementary, middle, and/or high school) as needed
- Ability to integrate Biblical principles into classroom interactions when appropriate
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- Familiarity with Christian curriculum and Biblical worldview integration
