We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant individual to serve as a Substitute School Security Officer (Armed) for our district-wide schools. This temporary position requires a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will possess strong observational skills, the ability to assess and respond to various situations, and a commitment to upholding safety protocols while fostering a positive school climate. Responsibilities
- Monitor school premises, including hallways, entrances, and parking lots, to ensure the safety and security of all individuals on campus.
- Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and alarms, taking appropriate action in accordance with established protocols.
- Collaborate with school administration, staff, and local law enforcement to develop and implement safety plans and strategies.
- Conduct regular patrols of school facilities and grounds to identify potential security risks or violations.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of incidents, observations, and actions taken during shifts.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter inappropriate behavior and promote a safe learning environment.
- Assist in the enforcement of school policies and regulations, including monitoring visitor access and conducting searches when necessary.
- Participate in training and professional development related to school safety and security best practices.
- Serve as a resource for students, staff, and parents regarding safety concerns and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in security, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid state-issued firearm permit and completion of required firearms training.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong observational and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and applicable laws regarding school security.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings, as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Must pass a background check and any other required screenings.
