PLEASE POST August 28, 2026 POSITION: Substitute School Nurse; PRN; 8:00am - 4:00pm LOCATION: Newtown School District START DATE: Immediately SALARY: $40/hr RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide routine and emergency health care, including medication administration, to students in grades Pre-K-12. Manage student health conditions and related plans, including EHCPs, IHCPs, 504 Plans, IEPs, and Homebound services, and make appropriate referrals as needed. Promote and protect the optimal physical, social, and emotional health of students to support their educational success. Implement and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local health screening mandates, regulations, and laws. Observe, identify, document, and address health patterns, changes in student health status, and atypical findings. Maintain, evaluate, and interpret cumulative student health records and data to identify and accommodate individual student needs. Provide health education and appropriate referrals to community resources for students and families Serve as a liaison among students, families, school staff, healthcare providers, and other relevant personnel to support student health and educational needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Related degrees may be considered. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut. Current CPR certification required. Minimum of one year of nursing experience in hospital, school health, community health, or pediatric settings. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong technology skills, including proficiency with Google Sheets and Google Docs.
