POSITION
OVERVIEW
The
Licensed
Practical
Nurse
(LPN)
provides
direct
nursing
care
and
support
to
students
and
staff
under
the
supervision
of
a
District
Registered
Nurse
(RN)
and
in
accordance
with
the
Ohio
Nurse
Practice
Act.
The
LPN
assists
in
promoting
student
health
and
wellness,
supporting
safe
school
environments,
administering
prescribed
treatments
and
medications,
and
maintaining
accurate
health
records.
The
LPN
contributes
to
reducing
health-related
barriers
to
student
learning
and
ensures
compliance
with
district,
state,
and
federal
health
requirements.
ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS
Provide
basic
nursing
care
to
students
and
staff
in
accordance
with
the
LPN
scope
of
practice
and
under
RN
supervision.
Administer
prescribed
medications
and
treatments
following
physician
orders,
district
protocols,
and
Ohio
law.
Assist
with
the
management
of
student
health
rooms
and
with
the
care
of
ill
or
injured
students.
Support
health
screenings,
including
vision,
hearing,
height,
weight,
and
basic
health
assessments.
Monitor
student
immunization
records
and
assist
in
maintaining
compliance
with
state
requirements.

Assist
in
the
implementation
of
Individualized
Healthcare
Plans
(IHPs)
and
Emergency
Care
Plans
developed
by
the
RN.
Respond
to
student
injuries,
illnesses,
and
emergencies,
and
notify
RN/administrator
as
appropriate.
Assist
with
communicable
disease
control
measures,
including
reporting
and
exclusion
procedures
per
district
protocol.
Maintain
accurate,
timely,
and
confidential
student
health
records
and
documentation.
Assist
with
medication
inventory,
storage,
and
security
procedures.
Support
Medicaid
billing
documentation
as
directed
by
RN
or
supervisor.
Communicate
student
health
concerns
to
RN,
administrators,
teachers,
and
parents
in
a
professional
manner.
Participate
in
health-related
meetings
and
in-service
training
as
assigned.
Follow
delegation
protocols
established
by
the
supervising
RN,
including
documentation
and
reporting
requirements.
Promote
a
safe,
respectful,
and
healthy
school
environment.
Maintain
confidentiality
of
all
student
and
staff
health
information.
Perform
other
duties
as
assigned
by
the
RN,
Director
of
Special
Pupil
Services,
and/or
Principal
OTHER

school

Support
health

and

Assist
in
the
coordination
of

students
and
demonstrate
professional
conduct
at
all
times.
Participate
in
school
safety
drills
and
emergency
preparedness
activities.
Provide
support
during
outbreaks
or
public
health
events
as
directed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Current
and
valid
Licensed
Practical
Nurse
(LPN)
license
issued
by
the
Ohio
Board
of
Nursing
Current
CPR/AED
certification
Graduation
from
an
accredited
practical
nursing
program
Experience
working
with
children
or
in
a
healthcare
setting
preferred
Such
alternatives
to
the
above
qualifications
as
the
Superintendent
and/or
Board
of
Education
may
deem
appropriate
