SUBSTITUTE KITCHEN ASSISTANT

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION Substitute Kitchen Assistant employees perform assi gned tasks in designated areas related to the opera tion of successful food and nutrition programs within the s chool. A Substitute Kitchen Assistant is responsib le to the Lead Assistant and/or the Food and Nutrition Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

1. Assists in food production.
2. Can or must learn to operate typical commercial food preparation equipment such as slicers, steamers, ovens, and microwaves.
3. Can or must learn to, operate computerized POS equipment.
4. Follows Manager's/Lead Assistant's instructions in preparing, portioning, and serving meals.
5. Follows established sanitation and safety procedure s in use and care of equipment, storing and serving food, and personal habits.
6. Assists in maintaining daily-required forms.
7. Participates in merchandising and promotional activities.
8. Demonstrates a positive, cooperative attitude.
9. Maintains regular, on-time attendance.
10. Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
11. Has a good interpersonal communication skill.
12. Able to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
13. Able to lift 35 pounds on a recurring basis.
14. Able to walk, bend, stoop, and reach without restrictions. SALARY The rate of pay for a substitute kitchen assistant for the 2026-2027 school year is $15.00 per hour. This position will be eligible for applicable leave benefits as required by the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act and is eligible to participate in the 403b/457b retirement savings plan.
