Substitute Food Service

Summary

We are seeking a reliable and flexible individual to fill the role of Substitute Food Service. This position is essential in ensuring that our food service operations run smoothly in the absence of regular staff. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals in a variety of settings, including schools, cafeterias, and other food service environments. This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene while providing excellent customer service to all patrons.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with established menus and dietary guidelines.
• Ensure that food is presented attractively and served at the appropriate temperatures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of food service areas, including dining rooms, kitchens, and storage spaces.
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
• Help with inventory management, including receiving and storing food supplies as needed.
• Provide support to regular food service staff and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns in a friendly and professional manner.
• Participate in training and development opportunities as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in food service or related field is a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work on short notice and availability for various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and weekends.
• Physical ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt to new situations.
