JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Substitute CTE Cosmetology Teacher Pay Grade: Substitute Salary Schedule Duty Days: Intermittent Purpose: A Substitute CTE Cosmetology Teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent. (If you have a foreign transcript, it must be evaluated by a TEA-approved credential evaluation agency Graduate of an accredited school of cosmetology Must have a Current Texas Cosmetology Operator's License issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Minimum of three (3) years of professional cosmetology experience. Speak, write, read, and comprehend English - Communicate with students, staff, and others in English. Flexible and able to adjust daily routine Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Punctuality and dependability Professional appearance as an example for students Duties include but are not limited to the following: Work for an extended instructional day from 6:45 AM to 3:30 PM. Report to the building principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school. Remain at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or the designated representative. Adhere to the professional code of conduct adopted by the Klein ISD Board of Trustees. Instruct assigned classes at the designated class times following the assigned lesson plan. Record student attendance per school district and TDLR requirements. Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Appy all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities. Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
Protect and respect the confidentiality of the students under his/her supervision. Look after the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of the students and ensure that their safety and security are always treated as the utmost priority. Report immediately to the appropriate authorities in case of injury, illness or discipline issues. Notify the CTE Department Chair if assistance is needed with lesson plans, student discipline, or equipment. Keep a report of the activities followed and study plans, for review by the permanent teacher on their return. Document information on any student(s) who failed to follow classroom rules of conduct and/or failed to complete the work assigned. Look after school property, equipment, and the belongings of the students while they are in class. Perform all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the building principal. Work Conditions : The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Be able to handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having different functions, personalities, and abilities, including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings
