Job Description: The substitute bus operator is responsible for operating school buses and other school transportation vehicles as provided by the West Virginia Board of Education.

Bus Operator:

Personnel employed to operate school buses and other school transportation vehicles as provided by the State Board of Education.

Note: Specific duties and responsibilities are derived from West Virginia Code 18A-4-8 and 18-5-13(6,7,8) and West Virginia School Transportation Regulations, as well as Federal Laws mandating Commercial Driver License and Mandatory Drug Testing.

Pay Grade D

Qualifications: Holds a high school diploma or GED

Holds a Commercial Driver's License, Class B, Passenger and Airbrake

Endorsements

Passes the required physical examination

Has three years of experience as a licensed driver

Passes the Department of Motor Vehicles Driving Record Check

Passes the Drug/Alcohol Screening

Completes 40 hours of required classroom training and 20 hours of

behind the wheel training.

Holds First Aid/CPR Certification

Obtains a West Virginia School Bus Operator's Certificate through classes offered at the BOE.

Applicants who have unsatisfactory evaluations, have been dismissed or had their contracts non-renewed for cause by another school district will not be considered eligible for consideration
