Job Summary

The Bus Monitor assists students with special needs during transport to and from school and activities. This role ensures vehicle safety and sanitation and supports student safety during loading, transit, and unloading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Assistance: Help students with special needs and other passengers during loading and unloading.
  • Behavioral Management: Enforce rules and regulations to maintain student safety.
  • Monitoring: Supervise students until they are handed over to a teacher, assistant, or parent.
  • Incident Reporting: Document incidents and passenger misconduct as required.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Secure students and equipment for safety.
  • Training and Development: Attend meetings, training, and workshops as needed.
  • Other Duties: Perform related tasks to ensure efficient work unit functioning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Job-related experience preferred.
  • Skills: Accurate record-keeping, equipment operation, safety practices.
  • Knowledge: Basic math, written procedures, safety practices.
  • Abilities: Scheduling, working with diverse individuals, problem-solving, confidentiality, teamwork.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent: Sitting.
  • Occasional: Walking.
  • Significant: Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching; fine finger dexterity.
