QUALIFICATIONS:

• CDL required; training offered
• Knowledge of traffic laws
• Skill in defensive driving; ability to take evasive action to avoid collisions as necessary
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Ability to make quick and effective decisions with no supervision
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimal or no supervision
• Ability to maintain concurrent awareness of passenger activity and changing traffic situations
• Ability to establish a positive rapport with students
• Ability to correct student behavior and enforce safety rules
• Ability to maintain a strict time schedule

GENERAL FUNCTIONS: Substitute Bus Drivers operate a school bus to transport students to and from school along designated routes, and/or on trips to district approved activities. Responsibilities include monitoring behavior and disciplining students while they are on the bus, and performing daily checks to ensure that the bus is in safe operating condition. Work is based on employee absenteeism and there are no guaranteed hours or benefits. Training is required and offered by the district on an occasional basis. Submission of your application will generate training being offered.
