Job Type : Temporary Work Hours / Days: Normal School hours / On-call JOB GOAL The Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role ensures cont inuity of learning by implementing lesson plans, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting student academic and behavioral needs . POSITION QUALIFICATIONS : o High school diploma or GED o Bachelor's Degree (preferred) o Experience working with students (preferred) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools. o Reports to the assigned campus on time and follows all campus procedures, expectations, and daily schedules. o Provides classroom coverage in the absence of the regular teacher and carries out instructional plans and duties as directed by the campus principal or designee. o Implements lesson plans left by the classroom teacher and maintains instructional continuity to the greatest extent possible. o Maintains accurate attendance records and follows campus procedures for reporting absences and tardies. o Creates and maintains a safe, orderly, and respectful learning environment that supports student engagement and learning. o Manages classroom behavior in accordance with campus and district expectations and reinforces positive student conduct. o Supervises students at all times, including during instructional periods and any assigned duties (e.g., hallway, lunch, or arrival/dismissal supervision). o Utilizes district -approved instructional materials and technology as appropriate to support student learning. o Communicates promptly with campus administration or designated staff regarding any concerns, incidents, or student needs that arise during the assignment. o Does not administer medication or provide medical care; immediately notifies campus administration of any health or safety concerns involving students. o Documents classroom activities, student behavior concerns, and instructional progress and leaves detailed notes for the regular classroom teacher. o Follows all district policies, campus procedures, and confidentiality requirements, including those related to student information and records. o May support students through small -group instruction, intervention, or tutoring as assigned by campus administration. o Completes the full workday as assigned and remains on campus until officially released by administration. o Performs other duties as assigned. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Knowledge of curriculum and instruction o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. o Ability to use effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone. o Ability to analyze data . WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting. o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required. o Position is in classroom setting and intermittent speaking, standing, walking and writing . o Light travel is required.
