Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Asheville treatment team. This position provides direct clinical services to individuals receiving treatment for opioid use disorder and other substance use disorders in a structured outpatient treatment setting.
This is an excellent opportunity for a counselor who is passionate about addiction treatment, enjoys building therapeutic relationships, and wants to help individuals make meaningful progress in recovery.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM–1:00 PM, making this a great opportunity for a clinician who prefers an early daytime schedule.
Provide individual, group, and family counseling to clients receiving substance use disorder treatment
Complete clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide substance use education, recovery support, and relapse prevention services
Monitor client progress and update treatment plans based on clinical needs
Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough clinical documentation in the EHR
Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other members of the care team
Support continuity of care, aftercare planning, and discharge planning
Communicate with referral sources, families, and other providers as appropriate
Assist with crisis intervention and level-of-care assessments
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and client confidentiality
Follow all applicable state regulations, clinical standards, and company policies
Support a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused treatment environment
One of the following credentials is required:
CADC-I
CADC
LCAS-A
LCAS
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field preferred
Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or High School Diploma may be considered based on applicable CADC/CADC-I credentials and experience
Experience working with substance use disorders preferred
Experience in opioid use disorder treatment or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is a plus
Experience working with co-occurring mental health disorders preferred
Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care
Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
