RSC - BUILDING OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

THE ROLE

As a Building Operations Assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming, safe, and student-centered environment throughout the Rayburn Student Center. From assisting guests at the Info Desk to keeping an eye on building operations, you’ll gain hands-on experience in customer service, communication, facility operations, teamwork, and problem-solving.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Welcome the Guest — Assist students, employees, and visitors at the RSC Info Desk with questions, directions, and general information.
• Know the Building — Help monitor RSC spaces and identify facility, cleanliness, safety, or operational concerns.
• Keep It Ready — Help maintain clean, organized, welcoming public spaces and address or report issues when needed.
• Stay Connected — Communicate with Building Operations Supervisors and other RSC staff through radios, Teams, email, and verbal updates.
• Spot the Problem — Identify and report on maintenance, safety, security, or guest concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Support the Team — Assist Building Operations Supervisors and collaborate with Event Services, Marketing Services, custodial staff, and other building partners.
• Jump In & Help — Complete assigned operational tasks and adapt to the changing needs of a busy student center.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Current East Texas A&M University student in good academic standing
• Positive, dependable, punctual, and ready to learn
• Strong customer-service and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Able to bend, kneel, and lift up to 30 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
• Available to work up to 19 hours per week
• Preferred – Adult CPR/First Aid/AED certification (not required)

PAY & GROWTH

Starting at $10.50/hour, with opportunities to earn wage increases within your first year through continued employment, training, professional development, and demonstrated performance.
