Cisco Networking and Cybersecurity Lab
Department: Information Technology / Computer Science
Reports to: Networking and Cybersecurity Lab Coordinator or Faculty Supervisor
Employment Type: Part-time student employment
Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during the academic term; some evening hours may be required
Compensation: $~16.00 per hour
Position Summary
The Yavapai Colle ge Student Worker Computer Lab Technician supports the daily operation of the college's Cisco networking and cybersecurity lab. Under the supervision of faculty or technical staff, the technician helps maintain lab equipment, prepares hands-on learning environments, assists students with basic technical issues, and promotes safe and responsible use of college technology.
This position is designed for a currently enrolled student interested in networking, cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field who have completed at least one year of student or have a Computer Science faculty sponsor. It provides practical experience with Cisco networking equipment, computer hardware, operating systems, virtualization, and cybersecurity lab environments.

The lab may contain security tools and intentionally vulnerable systems used for instruction. The Student Worker Computer Lab Technician must use these resources only for authorized educational or support activities. Testing, scanning, monitoring, password recovery, configuration changes, or access to systems must be performed only with explicit permission and within the assigned scope.
Any suspected security incident, unauthorized access, loss of equipment, or exposure of confidential information must be reported immediately to the supervisor.

Essential Functions
The start date, to occur no sooner than July 1st of the current aid year, of this position will be determined by the hiring supervisor after an applicant is hired. This position has a standard end of assignment date of June 30th of the current aid year. Assignment may end sooner or be extended depending FWS eligibility, availability and/or department need.
