    Student Worker - Biological Sciences Assistant

    Purpose/Objective of the Role:

    You will be assisting the Biology Laboratory Coordinators and/or Greenhouse Manager

    Tasks & Responsibilities:

    Duties of the Biological Sciences Assistant can include:

    • Helping to set up and break down Biology labs, washing labware, measuring liquid and dry media, restocking lab supplies, animal care, watering plants, testing eye wash stations, repairing equipment, cleaning field lab equipment, assisting StAP and/or Museum Interns with special projects, public science outreach programs, assisting faculty members during Biol 122 laboratory sections (if qualified), following health and safety guidelines.
    • Animal care duties include: providing day to day support for the feeding and housing of departmental invertebrates and fish, checking/recording room temperature and humidity, cleaning fish tanks, making sure that filters, freezers, and refrigerators are operating correctly.

    Qualifications/Skills:

    Successful completion of the following courses (may be currently enrolled this semester):

    • Biol 120 (Introduction to Cell Biology)
    • Biol 122 (Organisms & Their Environment)
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team

    Potential Future Career Benefit:

    • Any field in the biological sciences

    NOTE:
