This recruitment will be used to fill eight (8) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Wheat Research Technical Assistant for the Crop and Soil Science at Oregon State University (OSU).
Successful candidate performs manual and routine to semi-skilled technical tasks in support of research and administrative work. Position may include field plot research, greenhouse operations, laboratory work, data collection and simple analysis.

Position Duties
100% Duties may include field/greenhouse research work associated with the Wheat Breeding Project at OSU. Main work site located at the Hyslop Crop Science Field Research Laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Because the work is performed during the summer term break, student hourly employees must have been enrolled the previous term and have intentions of enrolling or be enrolled for the term following the summer break.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications Working Conditions / Work Schedule
Work is performed in a typical field laboratory, seed-house, greenhouse and outdoors, on and off main campus, at partner institutions or at cooperator sites. May involve required overtime especially during travel. Work is performed during the summer term break with an option to continue during the school year. Vacation time is limited and at the discretion of the supervisor.
