The Front Desk Student Assistant serves as a key member of the Student Success Center (SSC), helping create a welcoming and supportive environment for students seeking academic and career support services. As the first point of contact for many visitors, this position provides customer service, administrative support, and resource navigation while assisting with the day-to-day operations of the SSC. Student Assistants help connect students with advising, tutoring, coaching, testing, and career services, while also supporting outreach efforts, events, and student success initiatives across campus.

Successful Front Desk Student Assistants are friendly, dependable, and passionate about helping fellow students succeed. They excel at customer service, communication, and organization while maintaining a professional and welcoming presence in a fast-paced environment. Thriving in this role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a willingness to collaborate with staff and campus partners. Students who are proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic about promoting campus resources and student engagement will find this role both rewarding and impactful.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must be currently enrolled as a UAF student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.

  • Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with individuals from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Possess the ability to be proactive and work independently.
  • Proficient in Apple, Microsoft Office, and Google applications, with the ability to learn new software quickly, including Canvas, Nanook Navigator and Banner.

Position Details:

This is a part-time, student position. Compensation is based on experience and the specific duties assigned.
