    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Attendance & Time Management

    • Demonstrate a consistent pattern of arriving to work at regularly scheduled times, including flexibility around staff meetings and other college functions
    • Utilize appropriate time management skills by pursuing departmental objectives and making all required student outreach, follow-ups with students/staff in a timely manner

    Citizenship

    • Demonstrate and adhere to the South College Commitment to Behavior "Community, Connection, Commitment" form.
    • Follow South College policies and procedures.
    • Participate in service activities that contribute to community, professional and institutional advancement

    Student Services

    • Works closely with the Senior Director of Student Success/Director of Student Success on a daily basis to support individual and overall team success.
    • Help manage the student life cycle; new, continuing and re-entry. Assist students in understanding South College academic policies and procedures.
    • Meet with student advisee at the time of acceptance to the College to assist with acclimation to academic life including registering for courses, establishing goals and overcoming obstacles.
    • Proactively contact at-risk student advisees each week to provide resources and/or escalate issues to appropriate professionals (Director of Student Success, Dean of Academic and Student Services).
    • Assist in monitoring and managing student retention expectations for all students to achieve targeted persistence rates.
    • Meet with current students a minimum of once each quarter to register for the upcoming quarter, review academic plan, promote future goals, and address any areas of concern.
    • Consistently manage outlined Activities per QEP (Q1/Q2 Check ins and At Risk, Follow UP).
    • Monitor student progress for all students placed on probation and/or warning. Facilitate adherence to academic plan (if applicable.)
    • Maintain appropriate documentation in Campus Nexus/Web Client noting all student outreach and complete activities.
    • Assist and support institutional or department activities as assigned (welcome sessions, graduation, campus meetings, student programs etc.).
    • Other duties as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Solicit feedback from department managers on how to improve the overall quality and efficiency of the Student Services Department
    • Participate in professional development activities and Student Success Advisor training.

    Complex Cognitive activities

    • Advanced verbal and written communication often in stressful situations involving students or co-workers
    • Fast-paced work environment requiring quick adaptation skills in a changing strategic and tactical workplace

    Requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor's Degree Required (degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.)

    Experience

    • One to three years' experience working in a post-secondary setting preferred.
