General Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, the Special Education Supervisor provides leadership, oversight, and support for the district''s special education programs. This role is responsible for ensuring that all students with disabilities receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in their Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). The Supervisor works closely with building principals, special education staff, and parents to monitor compliance with federal and state regulations (including IDEA and Section 504), facilitate Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes, and implement evidence-based instructional practices.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver''s License
Must pass criminal background check
Demonstrate a sincere desire to aid all students
High moral character, good attendance record.
At least 18 years of age
Computer experience & willingness to utilize technology
Participate in ongoing training & professional development
Bachelor''s degree or higher in Special Education

Assist Director of Special Services with projects as needed or appropriate
Respond to requests for help from professional staff members
Attend monthly supervisor meetings
Conduct other duties related to special services as assigned by Director Special Services and/or Superintendent of Schools
Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills:
Ability to: Interpret policy, rules and regulations; compile and prepare required reports; communicate effectively; build rapport; lift a moderate amount of weight to fifty (50) pounds; transport self and related materials to work site; supervise students effectively.
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor''s Degree or higher in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
Knowledge of:
Board policies and procedures; appropriate school procedures; requirements of the Ohio Department of Education; effective management procedures; required state, local, and federal reports; public relations; effective conferencing techniques; district and community resources.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescriptive controlled substance use in the workplace throughout employment in the Ross Local School District.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board''s policy.
