The Student Services Analyst (Basic Needs & Retention Analyst) coordinates, administers, and implements student support initiatives that advance adult learner persistence, retention, and access to basic needs resources across the Community Development Division's Adult Education programs. This position serves as the primary coordinator for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Career Advancement Network (SNAP-CAN) related processes, eligibility support, resource navigation, and expansion planning across locations. The position also helps administer supportive student services available through Adult Education Workforce Development programming, connects eligible students to available resources, tracks services and outcomes, prepares required reports, and provides technical assistance to staff and students. In addition, this role serves as a lead worker for Student Success Coaches, coordinating workflows, promoting consistency and cohesion across locations, and supporting Program Managers in implementing retention-focused student support strategies at Community Development locations and partner sites.

Essential Functions

25% - Coordinates day-to-day implementation of SNAP-CAN and related student support service activities for adult education learners; supports student eligibility review and enrollment processes in partnership with appropriate staff; develops and maintains procedures, forms, tracking methods, and communication tools; and helps ensure consistent implementation aligned with college, district, and state requirements.

25% - Provides coordination, guidance, and technical support to Student Success Coaches, who serve as the primary point of contact for adult education students needing assistance with basic needs and retention barriers, including transportation, food, childcare, financial literacy, and other living expenses that may affect persistence in adult education and career training. Works closely with Student Success Coaches and other staff to strengthen referral processes, supports student-centered coaching practices in follow-up and case management, help remove barriers to participation, and connect students to internal and external resources that support enrollment, attendance, persistence, transition, and completion.

20% - Serves as a lead worker by coordinating and monitoring workflow related to basic needs support, retention efforts, referral processes, student resource navigation, and service documentation among Student Success Coaches across multiple adult education locations. Promotes consistency in practices, communication, and case coordination; supports teamwork and cohesion across the coaching team; and provides feedback, recommendations, and process support to Program Managers, Directors, and other division leadership.

10% - Develops, coordinates, and helps standardize financial literacy and other basic-needs-related resources, workshop content, and implementation tools for use by Student Success Coaches across adult education locations. Works with Coaches, Program Managers, and relevant partners to identify priority workshop topics, create or curate materials, support scheduling and delivery strategies, and evaluate student participation and the usefulness of the workshops. Coordinates templates, referral guides, talking points, and resource toolkits that help Coaches implement workshops and student-facing sessions consistently.

10% - Creates and maintains files, records, service logs, and tracking tools related to support services, referrals, workshops, student participation, and outcomes; analyzes data to gauge program effectiveness; and prepares required summaries, reports, and documentation on services provided to students for college, district, grant, intergovernmental agreement, and state reporting purposes.

10% - Serves as a liaison with internal and external departments, community partners, and relevant agencies to strengthen student access to resources and improve coordination across locations. Researches promising practices, identifies opportunities to improve support workflows, and helps communicate updates, expectations, and tools that support effective service delivery. Other duties as assigned.
