Student Intern-Respiratory Therapy-CW-PRN-Varies

Overview: Perform the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regime prescribed by a physician; the transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of respiratory care; proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing; recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities; implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician. A high school diploma or GED; Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC under CAAHEP or a successor organization.

Qualifications:

Education:
A high school diploma or GED;
Currently enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC under CAAHEP or a successor organization.

 

Experience:
Previous hospital experience preferred

 

Licenses/Certificates:
Pursuant to Section 34-27B-11, Code of Alabama (1975), respiratory therapy
students may perform limited respiratory therapy procedures as an employee of any
healthcare facility while enrolled in a respiratory therapy program accredited by CoARC
under CAAHEP or successor organization. The student employee shall be designated by
title as a student or trainee and shall work under direct clinical supervision.
Upon graduation, must obtain a temporary license to practice until such time as they achieve the CRT or RRT credential.
The temporary license for a recent respiratory therapist graduate is valid for six months.
Current BLS certification on hire or within the first 30 days of hire
Will need to obtain NRP, PALS, and ALS certification within 30 days of graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
