STUDENT INFORMATION ASSISTANT
Highland Community College seeks a Student Information Assistant to join our Student Services team. This full-time position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students, current students, and campus visitors by providing accurate information, exceptional customer service, and support throughout the admissions and registration process. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and direct visitors, telephone calls, emails, and messages while providing professional, accurate, and timely customer service.
- Assist students with admission and registration processes, enter student information into the student information system, and prepare reports.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties, including correspondence, Dual Credit communications, advisor appointment messaging, and advisor tracking activities.
- Participate in and assist with planning and execution of special events such as Express Registration, Quick Start, Experience Highland Days, and graduation ceremonies.
- Maintain campus phone, mail, and emergency contact directories, as well as a weekly calendar of campus events and meetings.
- Manage class cancellations within college systems and communicate schedule changes to students.
- Serve as a member of the College’s Emergency Operations Team, participating in emergency response training, drills, and assigned emergency functions in accordance with the College’s Emergency Operations Plan.
- May serve on committees and employee work groups.
- May assign and review the work of student employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- One (1) year of office, customer service, receptionist, or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, employees, and community members.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and professional correspondence.
- Knowledge of admissions, records, financial aid, and academic advising processes preferred.
- Ability to learn and effectively use computer systems, office equipment, telephone systems, and software applications.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Problem-solving and sound judgment skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and comply with federal and state privacy laws related to student records.
- Ability to utilize data and information to support informed decision-making.
