    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Duties: 

    • Operating equipment: Use back sprayers to apply herbicide to shrub beds targeting weeds
    • Maintaining equipment: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment
    • Maintaining records: Keep records of work, chemical usage, and equipment maintenance
    • Safety: Follow safety procedures and ensure the safety of people and property
    • Preparing work areas: Prepare work areas before starting and clean up after finishing
    • Following regulations and labels: in accordance with EPA rules and regulations
    • Monitoring: tracking treatment areas for effectiveness
    • Keeping detailed records: of chemical usage, application sites, and weather conditions
    • Identifying and report: weed infestations
    • Maintaining safety protocols: including proper PPE usage

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Ability to learn to read and interpret chemical labels and safety data sheets
    • Mechanical aptitude for operating and troubleshooting spray equipment
    • Attention to detail and ability to follow precise application instructions
    • Good physical stamina for extended periods outdoors
    • Strong communication skills to interact with Grounds staff

    Work Environment:

    • Primarily outdoors, exposed to varying weather conditions
    • Potential exposure to chemicals, requiring appropriate safety gear
    • May involve working on different terrains and access points

    This position is for the end of summer and fall semester. Summer you can work up to 40 hours and during the semester up to 20 hours. Shifts would be from 7:15 am to 12pm, 10am to 4pm or 7:15 am to 4pm any of the 7 days per week during the semester. Summer hours are 6:15am to 3pm, 5 days a week. 

    A Valid Driver's License is required when you apply.
