    Position Summary

    The Graduate Assistant for Recognized Student Organizations reports to the Assistant Director of Student

    Organizations in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life. This position will assist with Recognized

    Student Organization (RSO) event registration, operations, policy development, and departmental

    programs and initiatives.

    Start Date: August 17, 2026

    Requirements and Remuneration

    • Bachelor's degree is required
    • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Tulane University
    • Approximately 20 hours per week including evening and weekend commitments
    • 10 month appointment
    • 10 monthly stipends at $1,250 each to be paid August - May (total $12,500)
    • Preferred Qualifications
    • Past involvement/leadership experience in student organizations
    • Experience planning student organization events
    • Ability to work autonomously
    • Organizational skills, punctuality, and self-motivation
    • Ability to act as a positive role model
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Student Learning Outcomes:

    • Student will develop advising, communication, and program development skills related to
    • student organizations.
    • Student will gain expertise in University policies/procedures.
    • Student will demonstrate the ability to work successfully in a team.
    • Student will demonstrate applied competencies such as decision- making, time management,
    • planning, budgeting, program implementation and program management.
    • Student will exercise a variety of communication skills including formal and informal verbal communication and informal and professional writing.

    Major Responsibilities and/or Deliverables:

    • Manage the RSO event registration approvals process through WaveSync for all RSO events.
    • This includes daily communication and follow up LBC staff, other Tulane staff members and student organization leaders
    • Hold office hours in the Student Organization Center, and be a knowledgeable resource and support staff member for the space: answer relevant questions, assist with SOC day to day operations, support other departmental activities, and events, and any other related programs
    • Meet with RSO leaders to review event registration policies and protocols as needed.
    • Assist the Assistant Director of Student Organizations with the planning and implementation of the Fall and Spring Activities Expos.
    • Assist with management and updating of RSO records.
    • Assist with the annual update of the RSO Handbook.
    • Assist with departmental programs and initiatives.
    • Participate in weekly one-on-one meetings with the Assistant Director of Student Organizations for the purposes of program planning, troubleshooting and personal evaluation
    • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings on Thursdays from 10am-12pm
    • Participate in quarterly Student Affairs divisional meetings
    • Participate in ongoing staff in-services and trainings

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Work collaboratively with professional staff and colleagues in various departments within the Division of Student Affairs
    • Submit feedback and recommendation for future development of student programs, specifically related to student organizations and programming
    • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Student Organizations

    • Individual unit area training within the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life
    • Division of Student Affairs Graduate Assistant Orientation (date TBD)
    • Campus tour
    • Meetings with campus partners from within the Division of Student Affairs
