    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Graduate Assistant

    • Student will develop assessment, evaluation, and implementation skills related to student employment supervision and leadership.
    • Student will gain expertise in University policies/procedures.
    • Student will demonstrate the ability to work successfully in a team.
    • Student will demonstrate applied competencies such as decision‐ making, time management, planning, budgeting, program implementation and program management.

    Student will exercise a variety of communication skills including formal and informal verbal communication and informal and professional writing

    Bachelor's degree is required

    • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Tulane University
    • Approximately 20 hours per week including evening and weekend commitments
    • 10-month appointmentThe Graduate Assistant will support the department/organization in various administrative and operational tasks.
    • 10 monthly stipends at $1,300 each to be paid August - May (total $13,000)

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage When To Work software for scheduling work shifts for 3 LBC teams: Events Services, Information Desk and Building Managers.
    • Meet on a weekly basis with supervisor advising on LBC student employment policies and procedures, as well as leadership practices
    • Assist with scheduling staff meetings and individual meetings for student staff
    • Send weekly newsletter of important events and information to student staff
    • Assist in coordinating social and recognition events for student employees
    • Assist the Assistant Director of Events with interviewing and training new student employees
    • Assist in review and approval process for meeting room and events through Event Management System, EMSQualifications:
    • Past involvement in student employment as an undergraduate student (i.e. events services, information desk, office assistant, etc.)
    • Organizational ability, punctuality, and self‐motivation
    • Experience with When To Work scheduling module
    • Experience presenting and/or facilitating with groups of varying sizes
    • Ability to act as a positive role model
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skillsActive enrollment as a graduate student at Tulane University
