Description

Under direct supervision of the KCC Police Officers, monitors different events taking place on campus or other off campus sites, and/or performs safety services as needed.

Examples of Duties

A. Observes and reports incidents taking place at sporting events, campus events, incidents in parking lots, student center and any other place on campus in which you are monitoring during your shift.

B. Responds to emergency situations only to observe and report.

C. Writes incident reports.

D. Monitors entry or pass gates to events.

E. Monitors parking lots.

F. Assists in directing vehicular traffic.

G. Assists in giving proper directions to an individual who may need assistance.

H. Greets and assists the general public.

I. While employed, student will study the ILETSB Board Police Academy Curriculum and complete a report on topic of interest (approved by Deputy Chief )

C. Responds to the functions of the position in an environmental setting which might include cold, heat, odor, dampness, dirt, fumes, dust, oil, grease, noise, or vibration on a frequent basis. Appropriate protective devices are available as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A. High school diploma or equivalent required.

B. Able to interact with others in a professional manner treating everyone with Respect and Dignity.

C. Arrivies to work on time, in uniform and conforming to department appearance standards.

D. Able to learn and use in-house radio system for communication.

E. Able to learn all areas of the college in order to give the proper directions to individuals who may need assistance.

F. Maintains confidentiality regarding incidents in which you witness or are involved in.

G. Must be a current student, in the Law Enforcement Program, at Kankakee Community College enrolled in six or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters. For summer employment, student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours in the summer term and/or six or more credit hours during fall semester.

H. Maintains a passing grade point average at all times.

I. Student is required to read and agree to the KCC Student Employment Agreement.

J. Federal Work-Study students should also read and agree to the program rules and regulations.

K. Work schedule and hours may vary and are determined by each departments need. Maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Maximum of 29 hours when classes are not in session or during the summer.

L. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn.

Supplemental Information

Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour eff 1/1/25.
