The Community Service Officer (CSO) promotes campus safety, provides professional assistance to the Vanguard University Campus Safety Department, and ultimately helps increase confidence in the Campus Safety Department through student and staff support mechanisms. CSO’s provide a uniformed presence on the Vanguard University Campus, report criminal activity, dispatch for officers, communicate with incoming and outgoing phone lines, supply safety services and information, and serve as student representatives of the Vanguard University Campus Safety Department. CSO’s also aim to advance the personal and professional development of each employee. CSO’s must be a current registered Vanguard University student in good standing with the Student Life Department. This is a year long assignment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Provide computerized access control to authorized personnel and monitor video surveillance cameras, and other office systems.
- Maintain radio communication with all personnel in the Campus Safety Department
- Provide escorts for students, faculty, staff and university guest to nearby parking lots and buildings, when requested
- Maintain an active security guard status through BSIS
- Secure University buildings and provide key unlocks to students, faculty and staff as requested by the patrol officer on duty.
- Answer the University operator phone, the Campus Safety “duty” phone and Dispatch calls for service
- Monitor Titan HST and respond to incidents reported on Titan as quickly as possible.
- Assist patrol officers, Assistant Director, and Director of Campus Safety with parking and traffic control as needed
REQUIRED DATES: - This assignment responsibilities varies based on the detail assigned and the hours assigned. This assignment covers generally Monday – Sunday, 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM. You will be assigned a schedule and details based on your availability.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: - Current student enrolled at Vanguard University in good standing.
- Vibrant belief in Jesus Christ with ample evidence of personal discipleship.
- Maintain minimum grade point average of 2.0 each term.
- Demonstrated commitment as a team player to support and collaborate with faculty, staff, peers, and external constituents, as well as the initiative and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that will result in effective collaboration.
COMPENSATION: This position is 15-20 hours per week at a rate of $16.90 per hour.
