Job Title:Career Development Graduate Assistant – Marketing & Communications

Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications

Support the promotion of career development programs, resources, events, and student success initiatives through strategic marketing and communication efforts.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating and scheduling content across social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and other university-approved channels
  • Developing and implementing marketing campaigns that increase student awareness and engagement with career resources, programs, and experiential learning opportunities
  • Designing digital and print promotional materials including flyers, presentations, newsletters, and event marketing assets
  • Writing compelling content for emails, social media posts, website updates, and other communication channels
  • Collaborating with staff to develop communication strategies that support departmental goals and student engagement initiatives
  • Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on marketing and engagement metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness
  • Assisting with content planning and maintaining a marketing calendar for career-related programs and events
  • Collecting and highlighting student, alumni, employer, and faculty success stories to showcase the impact of career development initiatives
  • Supporting website content updates and ensuring information is current, accurate, and student-friendly
  • Conducting research on communication trends, student engagement strategies, and best practices in higher education marketing
  • Assisting with branding efforts to ensure consistency across departmental communications and promotional materials
  • Supporting photography, videography, and multimedia content creation for events, workshops, and career fairs as needed

Career-Oriented Advising

Support undergraduate students and alumni in developing career readiness skills through individual advising and coaching.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing and providing feedback on résumés, cover letters, and other application materials
  • Assisting students with job and internship search strategies
  • Conducting mock interviews and providing feedback on interview performance
  • Teaching networking strategies and professional communication practices
  • Guiding students in identifying experiential learning opportunities aligned with their career goals
  • Supporting drop-in advising hours and scheduled appointments

Career Lab Operations Support

Contribute to the daily operations and overall student experience within the Career & Experiential Learning Lab.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Greeting and assisting walk-in visitors in a welcoming and professional manner
  • Responding to student and alumni inquiries via email, phone, or in-person
  • Supporting the coordination and execution of career workshops, employer visits, career fairs, and campus events
  • Maintaining an organized and student-friendly workspace within the Career Lab
  • Assisting with resource development and career education materials
  • Collaborating with campus partners to support student engagement initiatives
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a graduate degree program at Quinnipiac University.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and common digital communication tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, department, student group, or business.
  • Experience creating marketing, communication, or promotional materials using platforms such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics, digital marketing strategies, or audience engagement techniques.
  • Experience with content creation including writing, photography, videography, or graphic design.
  • Experience working in higher education, student affairs, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
Hours of Position:Up to 15 hours per week during the academic year. Candidates must be available during daytime hours. Some evening or weekend hours may be required to support programming and events.
