Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Audio Visual Support Student Assistant will assist in set-up, operating,

troubleshooting, and install equipment for sporting events, instructional classrooms,

meetings, presentations, conferences, and special college or third-party events. The primary

duties of this role include providing technical support for sporting events hosted at the First

Source Field House. Other secondary duties include assisting the IT and IS Support

Specialist with any daily tasks. This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to

work some weekends and evenings.

Other Information

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and install audio-visual equipment, including microphones, speakers, projectors, screens, monitors, recording equipment, cables, and mixing boards.
  • Provide first- and second-level technical support, including desktop support and break/fix services.
  • Install and support classroom technology such as instructor podiums, laptops, document cameras, projectors, and screens.
  • Test, diagnose, and resolve A/V and integrated computer system issues prior to events and classes.
  • Support daily A/V operations, including software and hardware installation and maintenance.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and transport of A/V equipment and media.
  • Maintain working knowledge of current A/V technology and assist with evaluating and recommending equipment upgrades.
  • Provide A/V training and hands-on instruction to students and staff on the proper use of equipment.
  • Work across multiple campus locations, including the Dowagiac and Niles campuses.

Special Instructions to Applicants

You must be enrolled at the College on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester); contact hours will not be used to meet the 6 credit hour minimum.

High-school students who are dual enrolled are eligible for student employment. You must also meet the credit hour requirement.
